HACM Scholarship Fund

There are many resources available to assist low-income individuals in paying for college or other post-secondary education and training.

About HACM Scholarship Fund

In 1998, HACM established an endowment fund with the goal of assisting eligible public housing residents to pursue a secondary education at a college or university in order to obtain an associates or bachelor’s degree. The scholarship fund offers an incentive and supports HACM’s goal to encourage academic excellence and achievement within public housing communities as well as life choices that promote and sustain economic self-reliance.

HACM awarded 16 scholarships worth a total of $32,000 in 2015. In total since 1998, HACM has awarded 311 scholarships to residents for a cash total of $622,000. Scholarships are renewable to the extent that the student continues to qualify for them and funds are available.

Scholarship recipients have used the funds to attend Milwaukee Area Technical College, state universities and local private colleges (such as Marquette University, Alverno College, Bryant and Stratton, Concordia University and the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design). In addition, several have chosen out-of-state colleges located in Tennessee, Iowa, Ohio and Kentucky.

Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis. Residents can apply by downloading the scholarship application on this page and following the directions for submission.
