Initiatives
Milwaukee's Choice Neighborhood
In 2015, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded the City of Milwaukee and the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) a $30 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation (CNI) grant to support a locally-driven, comprehensive strategy to transform the Westlawn neighborhood on Milwaukee's northwest side. RAD - Rental Assistance Demonstration Project
HACM is currently assessing the value of HUD's RAD program to HACM, its residents and the City of Milwaukee. Information about this process will continue to be updated at RAD-Rental Assistance Demonstration.
Sustainable Design and Conservation
For more than a decade, HACM has redeveloped older buildings to increase their energy efficiency and developed new buildings and neighborhoods that push at the boundaries of sustainability standards. With each succeeding development project, HACM has built upon its past experience to refine its design practices and broaden their impact. Along the way, HACM has also helped to set new benchmarks in sustainable design and conservation. Learn more at Green Design For All.
