DESCRIPTION OF ORGANIZATION
(Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee)
The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) is a state chartered Housing Authority that has been providing nationally recognized housing programs for over 75 years. The mission of the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) is to foster strong, resilient and inclusive communities by providing a continuum of high-quality housing options that support self-sufficiency, good quality of life, and the opportunity to thrive.
The Housing Authority maintains offices at 809 N. Broadway, 650 W. Reservoir, 5125 W. Lisbon Avenue, and various Housing Authority/public housing sites throughout the City of Milwaukee. The “local public office” positions include the Secretary-Executive Director and seven Commissioners. The Housing Authority is a state public body exercising statutory powers in cooperation with the city of Milwaukee.
Dates & Places at Which Public Records Can Be Maintained
The public may obtain information and access to, or copies of, records by making requests to Secretary-Executive Director Willie L. Hines, Jr., or his designee. Public records requests may be made by:
- mailing or personally delivering the request to 809 N. Broadway, 3rd Floor, Milwaukee, WI 53202. Regular office hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, holidays excluded;
- calling (414) 286-5625 to make the request; or
- sending the request by email to publicrecords@hacm.org
The Housing Authority may bill you $.25 for each copy made. Requests which exceed a total cost of $5.00 may require prepayment. An additional fee for location costs may be charged if the total costs exceed $50. Additional charges as allowed by the law for complying with public records requests may also be charged. Wis. Stat. §19.35(3). The Housing Authority will comply with all public records requests as required by the law, as soon as practicable and without delay.
